Thank
you for holiday events success
On behalf of the Dedham Square
Circle, I would like to thank everyone who helped make last week’s
holiday events a success. It takes a lot of help to make things
happen and we are truly grateful for the effort and support of
all our volunteers.
Friday’s Holiday Stroll was successful,
despite Mother Nature. Thanks to all of the merchants who participated
and to the people who braved the wind to start their holiday shopping
in the Square. A special thanks to the Dedham Community House preschool
for coordinating a shopping night for parents, and to Tanya and Julia
Holton, Rebecca Jones-Bloom, Larry Bloom, Katie Lynch and Martha
Podolski for their super caroling.
Congratulations to Tim Lesinski and his Eagle Scout
troop for staging a successful test-run of the Dedham Square Historic
Walking Tour. Stay tuned for tour maps available in you favorite
shops!
We thank the Dedham Rotary Club for their sponsorship
and support of the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. Thanks
also to Mr. Mobayed and Mrs. Kehoe for supplying the beautiful tree,
Joe Flanagan and the Department of Public Works for getting the tree
up, and Juju Mucciaccio and the Parks and Recreation Department for
decorating and lighting the tree and the Square. Thanks to Tanya
Taddeo and her dancers and the Dedham Choral Society for their wonderful
entertainment. We are grateful to Naomi the balloon lady, Jandy the
face-painting elf and the folks at Verizon for pitching in too.
We also appreciate the help of the magical Ron Slack,
Chief Weir and all of the officers who helped control traffic, and
Chief Driscoll and the Dedham Fire Department for Santa’s transportation.
Thanks to Rich Hargreaves of Hargreaves Signs, Steve Carlson and
the crew at Mocha Java, The Dedham Times, and Senator Marian Walsh
for their support as well.
Finally, we’d like to thank the entire Dedham
community, for its continued support of the Square. In the end, it
is you that will make the Square the vibrant retail, civic and historic
destination we all know it can be. Remember, don’t get malled—think
small this holiday season and shop in Dedham Square!
Sincerely,
Sarah MacDonald
