TAKE A LOOK AT DEDHAM
SQUARE
New barrels, benches part of groups’ goal to spruce up the Square DEDHAM, MA — Dedham
Square will be shining as a trio of local groups band together for
ongoing improvements and beautification.
Dedham Civic Pride and Dedham Square Circle joined forces to replace
the outdated plastic trash barrels with handsome wrought iron receptacles
that are more in keeping with the historic feeling of Dedham Square.
Funding through a generous donation from the
Lowe’s Corp.
allowed the committees to purchase six of the eleven barrels. The
remaining five barrels were paid using funds from Civic Pride’s
Spring Gala fundraising event at the MIT Endicott House in April.
Four attractive same high quality black six-foot
steel benches will be installed on the corner of High Street and
Eastern Avenue within the next 2 months. These benches were sponsored
by the Dedham Women’s
Exchange to further beautify Dedham Square.
Amy Black, Co-Chairman, The Friends of
Dedham Civic Pride Committee, said that she and the committee are
excited to add another beautification endeavor to Dedham Square.
“The Dedham Women’s Exchange is proud to support this
effort and we hope to continue to work together to build awareness
and improve the Square,” said Elsie Aubrey of the exchange,
a non-profit gift shop that has been in Dedham Square for more than
50 years.
Peter Reynolds, president of the Dedham Square Circle, said the
improvements are just the first of many coming to the Square.
"We are invigorated by the growing momentum which is building
to celebrate the charm and history of Dedham Square," Reynolds
said. “We greatly appreciate the efforts that all groups and
citizens are doing to help our cause.”
