Dedham Square Memories Project Kicks Off
DEDHAM, MA —Thanks to a generous grant from the Dedham Cultural Council, the Dedham Square Circle has begun work on a film capturing the colorful history of Dedham Square!

Now the Square Circle is looking for volunteers to help coordinate this ambitious project. They are looking for people with memories of the Square who would like to share, as well as folks to help out with the interviewing.

"It is an urgent mission." shared Peter H. Reynolds, president of the Dedham Square Circle. "Every person who has grown up in Dedham or lived here has memories, but as people pass away we lose those 'first-hand' stories. We believe that the past holds the wisdom for our future and that if we forget those stories and lessons we will live in a town that will have lost something precious."

The documentary will be an on-going project for the next few years and will edited and ready for the 375th birthday of Dedham in 2011. The Dedham Historical Society will be a partner in the production.

Contributions to the film project are welcome, as the grant will pay for just part of the cost.

"The most important thing now is for us to begin filming and recording members of our community," said Reynolds. "Once these memories are gone, they often are gone forever. We hope to capture these important stories for future generations."

For more information, to nominate someone to be interviewed or to schedule an interview session, email us or call Peter at 617-610-4741.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Dedham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
