Our Vision:  to significantly improve Dedham Square as a strong, vital and unique neighborhood where members of the community can live, work and shop.

Our Goals:  Five for the Future

Engineering the Future:  This initiative aims to improve the streetscape and public space of the Square to make major safety improvements for both pedestrians and motorists.  The Dedham Square Improvement Project, which will break ground in March 2012, will improve traffic flow, create safer and more visible crosswalks and make aesthetic improvements such as brick-lined sidewalks, gas lamps and enhanced landscaping.  The new streetscape will enhance the Square’s atmosphere and support easier access to shopping, dining and entertainment.  Click here to learn more.

Sign and Façade Improvement Program: This program helps local businesses make physical upgrades to their  facades, signage and awnings by providing matching funds and creative resources.

Community Events:  By organizing community-wide events, our goal is to draw residents and visitors to Dedham Square, many of whom may not otherwise visit. Such events help to make it an enjoyable and interesting place to be, fostering consumer and merchant confidence in our historic business district. Events include our weekly seasonal Farmers Market, Annual Holiday Stroll, Christmas Tree Lighting and Spring MusicFest.

Community Relations:  A key strategy in the success of DSC is to keep the public informed about DSC efforts and Dedham Square news and events in a timely manner.  DSC produces the bi-weekly "Square Scoop" column in The Dedham Times as well as an online newsletter that is sent out to subscribers.

Destination Dedham: Our efforts to create a positive image of Dedham Square are to encourage people to live, work, shop and invest in the Square. By promoting the Square’s unique characteristics to residents, shareholders, business owners, and visitors, we can improve consumer and investor confidence in the Square and encourage commercial activity and investment in the area.  We recently developed a self-guided walking tour of Historic Dedham Village (i.e. Dedham Square) which leads visitors to historic sites and notable landmarks.
