For months we've been busy at work behind-the-scenes recruiting farmers, interviewing specialty food suppliers, meeting with the health department to gear up for the big opening of the Dedham Farmers Market!

On Wednesday, June 17 we will celebrate the opening of the market with a whole lot of hoopla as we welcome back MacArthur Farm of Holliston, Spring Brook Farm of Littleton, Freitas Farm of Middleborough, The Neighborhood Farm of Needham as well as Ferrara Greenhouse of Hyde Park. We'll also offer a hearty Square welcome to new additions to the market: Flats Mentor Farm of Lancaster, a Hmong Farm that specializes in Asian produce such as daikon radish, bok choi, and 4 kinds of basil, as well as "Basket Full of Herbs" a small Natick specialty food organization that will offer an array of herb and spice blends. We are also eagerly awaiting the arrival of Clear Flour Bread of Brookline, winner of several "Best of Boston" accolades! This just in! Added to the vendor list are "Cookies by Geoff and Drew" out of Malden, who will be bringing their nationally recognized cookies and brownies this season. Gourmet Magazine says their cookies are “so fresh and flavorful we'd consider passing them off as our own” and The Today Show calls them “unbelievably delicious and creative”. Historically available only in gift baskets, G&D are now making their goodies available in a few select Boston-area towns.

The market, an initiative of the Dedham Square Circle, will take place in the town's permit lot across from Citizens Bank on Eastern Avenue. Featuring fresh locally grown produce from Massachusetts' farms, specialty food suppliers and more, the market will run from 12-6 every Wednesday.
